  • Yakubu Iddirisu is a highly accomplished and experienced geologist with a plethora of knowledge and expertise in the mining and exploration industry with decades of professional experience.

 

  • Yakubu has worked for a variety of Ghanaian and international organisations throughout his tenure, including the Minerals Commission of Ghana, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), DANIDA, GTZ (now GIZ) and international mining and exploration companies.

 

  • For 7 years he was the Corresponding Consultant in the mining sector for Ghana to the Centre for Development of Enterprise (CDE) which is an EU-ACP organization that eventually formed the Lomé Convention.

 

  • His responsibilities have included providing consulting services for exploration work to demonstrate the viability of small-scale miners across mining districts of Ghana, conducting geological mapping of sections of Ghana, conducting desk studies, and producing manuals for specific minerals in Ghana.

 

  • Yakubu has participated in several mining and exploration initiatives around the world and served as a consultant and board member for the Ghana Manganese Company Limited. His expertise in technical, business, and financial matters was crucial to the investor’s effective acquisition of the mine.

 

  • Yakubu has been involved in several sustainability initiatives in Ghana and Burkina Faso, in addition to his work in the mining industry. He has instructed district engineers in the use of geophysical survey techniques for groundwater exploration and supervised the drilling and borehole development program across Ghana.

 

  • He possesses a Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering Geology from Budapest Technical University, Hungary, a Master of Science in Mining Exploration Geophysics from the Institute of Aerial Surveys and Earth Sciences, Delft, Netherlands, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mining Exploration Geophysics from the same institution. Additionally, he possesses a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Ghana Legon.
  • He is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists (Fellow), Geological Society of Africa and the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
